On Tuesday, September 23rd, at 4:00 PM, Timothy O’Brien will present on “Risk Management & Planning for Climate Change Impact on Infrastructure Projects”. Two case studies from South America, Colombia’s Ruta-delSol and the K-58 on the Bogotá – Villavicencio road, will be discussed in his presentation including an analysis of the effect of climate change, specifically the impact of increased precipitation rates during La Niña climate patterns, on the stability of natural slopes. Further, the discussion will include how the risk probability and severity of relevant extreme climate events were determined and incorporated in the planning and design process.
