GZ’s Principal Nasri Munfah Publishes Article on ITA Sustainability Committee in TBM
We are proud to share that GZ’s Principal and Executive Vice President, Nasri Munfah, has published an article titled “ITA Sustainability Committee” in the December issue of Tunnel Business Magazine (TBM).
In the article, Nasri highlights the mission, structure, and future direction of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA) Sustainability Committee, emphasizing its role in advancing sustainable, resilient, and innovative underground infrastructure worldwide. The Committee promotes a holistic approach to sustainability by integrating environmental, social, and economic considerations throughout the full lifecycle of underground projects.
The article also outlines the Committee’s task groups, which focus on sustainability frameworks, informed decision-making, global collaboration, and alignment with the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Looking ahead, Nasri discusses plans to elevate the Sustainability Committee to a permanent ITA committee in 2026, expand collaboration with organizations such as the United Nations and OECD, and develop guidance and best practices to support sustainable tunneling worldwide.
With more than 40 years of experience in tunneling and underground construction, Nasri has been an active ITA member since 1995 and currently serves as the U.S. representative of the Sustainability Committee.
