Senior Tunnel Engineer

Education Qualifications

  • Graduate or post graduate degree in Civil Engineering, Tunnel Engineering, Construction Management, Geotechnical, or Mining and Metallurgy

Skills and Past Experience

  • 15-20 years of professional experience in the Civil Engineering / Tunnel Engineering field
  • Registration as a professional Engineer is required
  • Experience with large transit projects in a design-build and design-bid-build framework
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of tunnel engineers, geologists, CADD technicians and tunnel inspectors
  • Experience in design and construction management of large, complex urban civil engineering projects
  • Experience with a wide variety of ground conditions (SEM / NATM / SCL and TBM) and cut-and-cover techniques
  • Specific expertise in state-of-the-art TBM technology and safety requirements
  • Ability to identify high-risk situations and develop risk mitigation strategies

Tunnel Engineer / Geotechnical Engineer

Education Qualifications

  • Graduate or undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering with a specialty in geotechnical engineering

Skills and Past Experience

  • 5-15 years of professional experience in the Civil Engineering / Tunnel Engineering field
  • Experience in the design and construction management of large, complex underground transit projects in urban settings
  • Field investigation includes gathering data and investigating computer-generated analysis
  • Ability to calculate analytical findings and using computer programs for two-and three-dimensional simulated experiments
  • Experience with public transit and highway tunnels as well as other underground structures and tunnel rehabilitation
  • Experience with a wide variety of ground conditions (SEM / NATM / SCL and EPBM) and cut-and-cover techniques
  • Strong report writing skills, including technical reports, letter reports and proposals

Entry Level Position / Intern

Education Qualifications

  • Completed or seeking a degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology or a related field

Skills

  • Relevant Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Engineering course preparation from a four year university or college
  • Interest in large, complex construction projects
  • Strong report writing abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team

Geologist

Education Qualifications

  • Graduate or undergraduate degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or related physical science

Skills and Past Experience

  • At least 3-5 years of experience including experience with planning detailed field investigations and collecting and analyzing water, soil and rock samples
  • Strong report writing skills, including technical reports, letter reports and proposals
  • Ability to interpret geological maps and aerial photographs and advise on site conditions
  • Ability to assist with the design of underground structures, using specialized computer software and calculations
  • Excellent  organizational, written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work individually as well as cohesively with a team
  • Ability to multi-task with good time management skills

Construction Safety Specialist

Education Qualifications

  • 30-hour Construction Safety Certificate (or similar international standards)

Skills and Past Experience

  • At least two years of experience as site-safety professional in underground construction
  • 8-10 years experience in construction safety programs, with experience in underground construction
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations (or similar international standards)  and their applications in the field, crane safety, and tunnel safety
  • Ability to work cooperatively with inspectors, contractors, personnel and owner’s representatives to resolve safety issues
  • Ability to train staff in safety and security procedures
  • Ability to write reports and thoroughly document incidents, accidents, and events
  • Analyze and draft a summary and report risks and security needs assessments, with an understanding of applicable current local and national security needs and practices
  • Ability to draft safety plans following applicable local safety standards

Senior Tunnel Inspector

Skills and Past Experience

  • More than 15 years civil engineering inspection experience in a wide range of ground conditions with conventional tunneling (SEM / NATM / SCL)  mechanical tunneling (TBM), and cut-and-cover techniques
  • In-depth experience with inspecting of underground construction work as it pertains to tunneling, such as cast-in-place concrete, support of excavation, waterproofing, utilities, and other site work
  • Efficient report-writing, communication and managerial skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with contractors and owner’s representatives to resolve field problems in a timely manner

Tunnel Inspector

Skills and Past Experience

  • 8-10 years civil engineering inspection in a wide range of ground conditions with conventional tunneling (SEM / NATM / SCL)  mechanical tunneling (TBM), and cut-and-cover techniques
  • In-depth experience with inspecting of underground construction work as it pertains to tunneling, such as cast-in-place concrete, support of excavation, waterproofing, utilities, and other site work
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with contractors and owner’s representatives to resolve field problems in a timely manner

CAD Technician

Education Qualifications

Associate’s degree from an accredited college or vocational school; and at least two years of CAD experience, preferably in an engineering organization; or an equivalent level of training and experience. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education.

  • Sound knowledge of engineering design principles as well as the terminology, methods, practices, techniques and nomenclature of civil engineering drafting
